On Sunday evening, news emerged that a Song sparrow had been photographed that morning on the East Yorkshire coast at Thornwick Bay. Birders searched for the bird the following day, but there was no sign of the bird throughout the day. I had already seen a Song sparrow in 2018 on the Fair Isle in Shetland, so I wasn't particularly concerned about seeing another. However, when I learned that the bird was still present today and that my colleague Steve, who was working with me in Oxfordshire, needed it, I couldn’t resist seeing another one. We finished our early morning bird survey and headed north, arriving on site early afternoon.

It didn't take long before I connected with my second Song Sparrow for Britain. The bird showed really well. Thanks, Archie, for the scope views.
The last widely-accessible Song Sparrow comprised a three-day bird at Seaforth, Lancashire, in October 1994, so this bird was clearly a must-see for all. A great bird and nice to catch up with some familiar faces I haven't seen in a long time.
