Day 1 Portland Bound – The Start of My Scilly Isles Holiday

After a much-needed break from work, I'm finally off on holiday, with a week on the Isles of Scilly starting on Saturday. I decided to head down to Portland in Dorset first for a night of moth trapping before heading across to Scilly with my good friend Alan Lewis.

Here are today's highlights:

What a place! Looking towards Portland Bird Observatory

Red-backed Shrike

Blackcap

Southern Brindled Green
Only a handful of records from Dorset and a recent one from the Isles of Scilly

Freshwater Bay- ready for a night's moth trapping
