ASTBURY MERE COUNTY PARK

I finished my night shift this morning and called in at Astbury Mere in Congleton on my way home. The weather was dreadful on arrival, but as I pulled up in the car park, a Hawfinch was on show, but soon disappeared into some conifers. Brambling could be heard in the nearby trees, and up to 18 were counted as I walked around the mere. A male bird was seen on the feeders.

Due to the heavens opening and getting absolutely drenched, the trip was cut short, but it was a nice couple of hours of birding.
