A NOTE FROM THE RSPB

Short-eared owls have starred recently at Burton Marsh near Denhall Quay, but we're aware of some disturbance of them and other birds by people trying to get too close. We're installing some signs to address this and ask everyone to be mindful of their behaviour. If watched from Denhall Quay or the inner marsh edge, the owls will fly close enough for excellent views and photographs. This also prevents scaring ducks & waders feeding & resting on the nearby pools, as well as avoiding trampling the saltmarsh & reedbeds.

I would highly recommend to read Dan Trotman's article which has just been published on the RSPB website called 'Denhall Quay: What's owl the fuss about?'.
