LEACH'S STORM PETREL-LEASOWE GUNSITE

I visited Leasowe gunsite with Malc Curtin this afternoon, as over the last few days Leach's petrels have been passing the north Wirral coast. We arrived two hours before high tide, and it wasn't long before we connected with our first bird flying close to the shoreline, along with a Manx shearwater.

A total of 7 birds were seen over a two-hour period, which all showed really well, with one landing on the sea.
